Before You Start
– Even though this is a 2-in-1 paint and primer, proper surface preparation is still essential.
– Apply only when temperatures are above 10 °C for best performance.
– Use dust sheets to protect surrounding areas and ensure good ventilation by opening windows and doors (not the ones being painted).
– Wear a face mask when sanding to avoid inhaling dust.
How to Prep
– Lightly sand the wood using 120 grit sandpaper, following the direction of the grain for a smooth, even finish.
– Allow dust to settle, then wipe the surface clean with a cloth and white spirit.
– Treat knots with knotting solution to prevent darkening and fill any cracks or holes as needed.
– For previously painted wood, strip back to bare wood using an electric sander for best results.
Application
– Stir thoroughly to ensure a smooth, lump-free consistency.
– Apply using a synthetic brush, working in the direction of the wood grain.
– Allow the first coat to dry for 4 hours before applying the second coat in the same manner.
– The second coat will be touch dry in 30 minutes and fully dry in 4 hours.
– Once complete, the finish will remain brilliant white for up to 10 years.
Aftercare
Cleaning
– Once fully dry, surfaces can be cleaned as normal.
– Pay attention to marks or fingerprints, as they may be more visible on white surfaces.
Repair
– Lightly sand any damaged areas and reapply the product as needed to restore the finish.
