ME009 is a breathable construction membrane made from non-woven, water-repellent polypropylene with a special UV coating. It provides a highly breathable yet effective waterproof layer for building façades and is manufactured in a wide format, making it particularly suitable for modular construction projects. The membrane is UV-resistant for up to 12 months, has a W1 rating for water penetration resistance, and offers both air-tight and weather-tight performance. Its plain black, non-branded finish also makes it suitable for visible applications, while maintaining excellent vapour permeability and temperature resilience.

Application
1. Install the membrane horizontally from the bottom up to allow natural water run-off, securing each sheet with staples to the sheathing board or substrate.
2. Position the outer “white” face towards the structure for maximum UV stability, leaving the black face exposed to sunlight.
3. Ensure a minimum 40 mm support area for fixing and a minimum 100 mm overlap at joints, sealing overlaps with ME315 or ME316 tape for a wind-tight connection.
4. Seal any mechanical damage, penetrations, or connections with ME315 or ME316. When installing over external window sealing membranes (e.g., ME501), overlap and seal as appropriate; in some cases, sealing the window membrane directly to ME009 is acceptable.
5. For prolonged exposure, secure the perimeter with ME315 or ME316 and staple approximately every 500 mm, sealing staples with ME315/316; alternatively, washers can be used.
6. Do not use SP525 or SP025 fixings due to the membrane surface.
7. When used with an interior vapour barrier with sd-value > 2 m (e.g., ME003), a condensation risk analysis is not required.
