ME500-E is a Duo Flexible Window Membrane made from a tear-proof non-woven fleece fabric with a polyethylene copolymer film and integrated movement pleat to accommodate variable joint sizes and absorb movement. It features acrylic self-adhesive and butyl adhesive strips for secure attachment to the frame and wall, making it suitable for sealing windows and doors after installation. The membrane’s reactive design adjusts water vapour permeability (sd value) based on humidity within the joint, allowing it to function as an intelligent seal for airtight and vapour-tight internal joints. Its combination of durability, flexibility, and adaptive sealing makes it ideal for long-term building envelope performance.

Suitable for:
– Provides an internal airtight perimeter seal for windows and doors
– Variable sd value allows joints to dry quickly, preventing mould and moisture damage
– Acts as an intelligent membrane that is both airtight and vapour tight
– Easy to fix to both frame and wall
Priming
– On dusty, damp, or cold substrates (below 5°C), priming with ME901 (brushable) or ME902 (spray) Butyl & Bitumen Primer may be required.
Application as Internal Airtight Seal
– Bond the membrane to the internal frame face in individual strips or continuously around the frame, allowing extra 50 mm for corner lap joints.
– Use the self-adhesive strip to locate on the frame, ensuring minimum 10 mm adhesive contact, and cover exposed areas with the finishing system.
– Prime reveal areas (if needed) with ME901/ME902, bond with the butyl strip, and consolidate with a seam roller.
– Seal all lap joints and potential leakage paths (e.g., around brackets) with SP525; for wet plaster finishes, use ME508 Duo Membrane EW/F for full adhesion.
Application as External Weathertight Seal
– ME500 can be used externally, but for higher strength and up to 12 months UV exposure, ME501 Duo Window Membrane HD is recommended.
Please Note
– Install membrane with fleece (printed) face inside; shiny face must not be exposed to UV longer than 2 weeks.
– Bonding surfaces must be dry and clean; primers ME901/ME902 may be required.
– Test compatibility when using butyl tapes with other sealing materials.
– Printed face must be visible before finishing; Tremco CPG can provide testing for 3rd party materials (up to 4 weeks).
