ME902 Butyl & Bitumen Spray Primer is a bonding agent designed to enhance adhesion and improve the final bond strength of illbruck membranes that use butyl or bitumen adhesives, providing a quick-drying and easy-to-apply priming solution.

Preparation
No special preparation is required, but all surfaces should be sound. For best results, ensure the surfaces are dry, clean, and free from dust or grease. Any paint residues or impregnating agents must be completely removed from the adhesion surface to ensure optimal bonding.
Application
The minimum application temperature is -5°C. Apply the primer evenly and thoroughly over the substrate. If the surface is not sufficiently wetted, repeat the application. Highly absorbent, dusty, or very rough surfaces should be primed using ME901 Butyl & Bitumen Primer (brush grade) with a brush. Protect adjacent surfaces, illbruck PU foam, floor coverings, and decorative finishes before spraying. Safeguard the primed area from dust, moisture, and contamination. If the spray nozzle becomes clogged, clean it with a cloth and illbruck PU foam gun cleaner AA290. The tape or membrane can be applied after approximately 10 minutes at 20°C or 40 minutes at -5°C. After application, consolidate the bond using a seam roller for best results.
Coverage
Coverage will depend on the porosity of the substrate. Based on 40 mm wide application strip, 1 aerosol can will cover approximately 50 linear metres.
Cleaning
Overspray should be removed immediately using illbruck PU foam gun cleaner AA290
Note
Protect surrounding surfaces, including polyurethane foams, with masking tape or other suitable barriers to prevent contamination from spray mist. Be aware that paints, varnishes, and plastics may be affected or dissolved. Always test for compatibility with adjacent materials before use.
