BAL Level Plus is a versatile rapid-setting smoothing and levelling compound that can be used as a 1-part system mixed with water for standard substrates, or as a high-performance 2-part system mixed with BAL Level Plus Liquid latex for enhanced moisture tolerance and performance. As a 1-part leveller, it can be applied from 2–12mm over concrete, sand:cement screeds, anhydrite, and old tile adhesive residues, while the 2-part latex system can be used from 2–10mm over more challenging substrates such as bitumen, flooring-grade asphalt, underfloor heating, glazed tiles, existing vinyl (excluding LVT), and beneath DPMs. Offering flexibility to suit almost any floor, BAL Level Plus provides a smooth finish, a workable pot life of 25 minutes, and allows tiling in as little as 2–3 hours, with the option to build up depths to 30mm using aggregate.

Use for
– Application to absorbent internal substrates to prepare standard floor surfaces prior to installing:
– Ceramic and porcelain tiles.
– Glass, ceramic and stone mosaic tiles.
– Natural stone.
– Sheet and soft floor coverings (including vinyl, linoleum and carpet).^
– Wooden flooring (including parquet flooring and laminates).
– Resilient floor coverings.^
– Certain floor paints.
– Internal applications only.
– Use in dry environments, unless used in conjunction with BAL WATERPROOF 1C or BAL TANK-IT.
– Suitable for domestic or commercial* use.
NOTE: BAL LEVEL PLUS is not suitable for use as a wearing surface.
Restrictions: NOT suitable for
– Exterior applications.
– Areas of total immersion (e.g. swimming pools).
– Use as a finished wearing surface.
MIXING
BAL LEVEL PLUS – WITH WATER
1. Use a BAL MIXING BUCKET or another suitable container.
2. Add approximately 5.3 parts powder to 1 part clean, cold water by weight (see table). Do not exceed the recommended water content, as this may cause excessive shrinkage or de-bonding.
3. If using BAL Aggregate, add 20kg of aggregate per 1 bag of BAL LEVEL PLUS.
4. Mix until a smooth, lump-free compound is achieved.
5. Allow the mixed compound to stand for 2 minutes, then re-mix for 30 seconds before use.
BAL LEVEL PLUS – WITH BAL LEVEL PLUS LIQUID
1. Use a BAL MIXING BUCKET or another suitable container.
2. Pour the full contents of BAL LEVEL PLUS LIQUID (4.5 litres) into a clean container.
3. Gradually add all BAL LEVEL PLUS powder (20kg) to the liquid and mix until a smooth, lump-free compound is achieved.
4. If using BAL Aggregate, add 20kg of aggregate per 1 bag of BAL LEVEL PLUS powder (20kg) to the BAL LEVEL PLUS LIQUID (4.5 litres).
5. Allow the mixed compound to stand for 2 minutes, then re-mix for 30 seconds before application.
APPLICATION/USAGE
Do NOT use in temperatures below 5°C or in damp conditions.
Usage procedure
1. Prime the floor surface where required and allow it to dry fully before mixing BAL LEVEL PLUS with water or BAL LEVEL PLUS LIQUID.
2. Pour the mixed compound onto the sub-floor and spread to the required depth using a suitable steel finishing trowel or long-handled blade.
3. Finish the surface to achieve a smooth level suitable for receiving floor coverings without further treatment. A spiked roller may be used if required. If any trowel marks remain, lightly rub down before the compound has fully hardened (after approximately 2 hours).
4. Allow the new floor surface to set. Subject to application thickness, a 3mm layer of BAL LEVEL PLUS can accept foot traffic after 2 hours and tiling after 3 hours.
5. Carry existing movement joints through the sub-floor and BAL LEVEL PLUS.
6. When installing soft floor finishes (including vinyl, linoleum, carpet, resilient flooring and certain floor paints), allow BAL LEVEL PLUS to cure for a minimum of 24 hours.
