PRIMER C – Suitable for priming dry, porous surfaces that form the bonding face of an expansion/construction joint.
- Can be used on concrete, cement/epoxy mortars, timber and porous stone surfaces.
- Should not be used on glazed, metallic or sealed surfaces (e.g. G.R.P. polished stone, painted surfaces etc.)
Preparation
All joints should be dry and free from dirt, dust, grease and old sealants. Cleaning may be carried out by sand/gritblasting, grinding, sawing or water jetting. Wire brushing must only be used for removing filler boards.
Joint sides must be straight and parallel. Spalled joints should be repaired with the appropriate material.
Following preparation, place into the base of the joint, bond breaker or BACK UP FOAM, to form the correct cross section.
Priming
After cleaning, the joint faces should be primed using PRIMER C using a small brush, care being taken to ensure complete coverage.
- After priming, allow 30 minutes for the solvent to evaporate. If the sealant application is delayed for more than 2 hours after priming, joints should be reprimed.
