Sikadur®-31+ is a two-part, low-VOC, moisture-tolerant epoxy structural adhesive designed for strong bonding to a wide range of construction materials and for use in structural concrete repair, joint filling, and crack sealing in both DIY and professional applications. It offers excellent adhesion to dry and damp concrete, high mechanical strength, and thixotropic, non-sag properties for vertical and overhead work, while requiring no primer. The product is easy to mix, features colour-coded components for control, resists abrasion and specific chemicals, remains impermeable to most liquids and vapour, hardens without shrinkage, and can be applied in layers up to 30 mm within a temperature range of +10 °C to +30 °C.

Key Points
– Strong, moisture-tolerant epoxy adhesive suitable for structural concrete repair (Class R4, EN 1504-3).
– Excellent adhesion, high mechanical strength, and non-sag performance on vertical and overhead surfaces.
– No primer needed; resists abrasion, chemicals, and moisture, with low VOC certification (EC1PLUS).
– Easy mixing with colour-coded components; shrink-free curing and application up to 30 mm thick.

Shelf Life
The product has a shelf life of 24 months from the date of production.

Storage Conditions

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

SUBSTRATE QUALITY

CONCRETE, MASONRY, MORTAR, STONE
Concrete and mortar must be at least 28 days old. Substrates should be sound, clean, and either dry or matt damp, but free from standing water. All surfaces must be free of contaminants such as ice, dirt, oil, grease, coatings, laitance, efflorescence, surface treatments, and loose friable material.

STEEL
Steel surfaces must be sound, clean, dry, and free from dirt, oil, grease, coatings, and loose material.

WOOD
Wood surfaces must be sound, clean, dry, and free from dirt, oil, grease, coatings, and loose material.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

IMPORTANT – Reduced adhesion due to surface contamination
Surface contaminants such as dust and loose material, including residues generated during preparation, can reduce product performance. Thoroughly clean all surfaces using a vacuum or appropriate dust removal equipment before application.

CONCRETE, MASONRY, MORTAR, OR STONE
Prepare the substrate mechanically using suitable techniques to achieve an open-textured, gripping surface profile. Suitable methods include:

Abrasive blast cleaning

Needle gunning

Light scabbling

Bush hammering

Grinding

STEEL
Prepare mechanically to ensure a bright metal finish with a surface profile that meets the required tensile adhesion strength. Suitable methods include:

Abrasive blast cleaning

Rotating wire brush

Grinding

WOOD
Prepare the surface by planing, sanding, or other appropriate methods.

MIXING

IMPORTANT – Poor workability due to incorrect mixing
Do not mix a new unit until the previous one has been used.

PRE-BATCHED UNITS

Mix part A (resin) briefly using a slow-speed mixer (max. 300 rpm).

Add part A to part B (hardener) and mix continuously for at least 3 minutes until smooth and uniformly coloured.

Pour into a clean container and mix again for approximately 1 minute. Total mixing time for A+B = 4 minutes.

Do not overmix.

APPLICATION

IMPORTANT – Damage due to unsupported heavy components
Full adhesion is only achieved once the product has fully hardened. Unsupported heavy components may fall before hardening. Provide temporary support for heavy components until the product is fully set.

BONDING

Confirm dew point conditions before and during application.

On damp prepared concrete, always apply by brush and work the product into the substrate. Apply the mixed adhesive with a spatula, trowel, notched trowel, or gloved hand.

For optimum adhesion, apply adhesive to both surfaces.

Provide temporary support for vertical or overhead heavy components until fully hardened.

REPAIR

Confirm dew point conditions before and during application.

Place temporary formwork if required.

On damp prepared concrete, apply by brush and work the product into the substrate. Apply with a spatula, trowel, or gloved hand.

For repairs over 30 mm deep, apply in layers. Roughen the intermediate layer to improve adhesion of subsequent layers.

Apply each subsequent layer once the previous has hardened.

If more than 2 days will pass between layers, blind the wet adhesive with quartz sand immediately after application.

JOINT FILLING AND CRACK SEALING
Apply the mixed adhesive to prepared surfaces with a spatula or trowel.

CLEANING OF TOOLS
Clean all tools and equipment immediately after use with Sika® Thinner C. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
