Bond It Seal It Roof Seal Bleed Blocker Primer is a solvent-free primer is designed to prepare bitumen surfaces for the application of Roof Seal Liquid Membrane or Easiseal Pro Weatherproofing Compound. It enhances the bond strength of these products to bitumen, asphalt, and felt substrates, ensuring a durable and effective seal. Bond It Seal It Roof Seal Bleed Blocker Primer improves the adhesion of Seal It Liquid Membrane and Easiseal Pro to bitumen, asphalt, and felt surfaces. Easy and fast to apply. Prevents surface staining from bitumen coatings.
APPLICATION
Application Conditions
- The temperature during the primer application must be above 5°C.
Preparation and Application
- The primer is light blue to identify treated areas.
- Stir BLEED BLOCKER before use to ensure the pigment and polymer are fully dispersed.
- Apply a single coat of SEAL IT BLEED BLOCKER with a brush or roller, following the coverage rate to ensure the minimum thickness is achieved.
- Allow it to fully cure, typically overnight, though cold weather may require up to 48 hours.
- The product dries to a light blue film.
- If a second coat is needed, apply it only after the first coat has fully cured.
Coverage and Curing
- Ensure complete coverage of bituminous materials with SEAL IT BLEED BLOCKER before applying SEAL IT LIQUID MEMBRANE.
- Pay special attention to rough surfaces like bitumen felt, as any gaps in primer coverage can cause product failure.
- Bitumen-based surfaces need at least two coats of primer to prevent SEAL IT LIQUID MEMBRANE system failure.
- Seams and edges might require a third coat, or you can use SEAL IT CRACKS AND EDGING SEALER (refer to its TDS).
Final Application
- Proceed with SEAL IT LIQUID MEMBRANE or EASISEAL PRO as per the technical datasheet or packaging details.
- Using SEAL IT REINFORCING MAT within the SEAL IT LIQUID MEMBRANE coating can extend the product’s lifespan over bitumen substrates.
Testing and Compatibility
- Test a small, discreet area (approximately 1m²) with SEAL IT LIQUID MEMBRANE before full application to check for adverse reactions with the substrate.
- Any color of SEAL IT LIQUID MEMBRANE or EASISEAL PRO can be used after proper primer application, though incomplete coverage or water-based bitumen coatings may cause discoloration.
