APPLICATION

PROPERTIES KEY FEATURES

  • Application temperature range: Suitable for use within the range of +5°C to +30°C.
  • Curing rate: Cures at a rate of 2 – 3mm in 24 hours at 23°C @ 50% RH. Note that lower temperatures and drier conditions may result in a slower curing process.
  • Shelf life: Maintains its quality for 18 months when stored in its original unopened packaging in a cool, dry environment with temperatures ranging from +5°C to +25°C.
  • Skinning time: A skin forms after approximately 25 minutes.
  • Tack-free time: Achieves a tack-free state in approximately 40 minutes (at 23°C & 65% RH).
  • Working time: Offers a working time of approximately <25 minutes, depending on environmental conditions.

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Joint design: Prior to application, please refer to the Technical Information Sheet titled ‘Joint design for cartridge-based products’ for guidance.
  • Surface preparation: Ensure that all surfaces are thoroughly cleaned, dry, and free from frost, grease, and loose materials. Apply primer if necessary. In cases where a bond breaker is needed to prevent bonding at the base of the joint, install it accordingly. Most substrates typically require priming only if testing indicates the need or when the sealant will be exposed to water immersion post-cure. Cut the top of the screw thread off the cartridge and attach the nozzle. Adjust the nozzle diameter to match the joint size. Apply the sealant using a skeleton or powered gun, ensuring solid contact with the surfaces. For deep joints, it’s essential to use Hodgson Backing Rod to ensure proper joint formation.
  • Tooling: It is recommended to tool the sealant immediately after application within the specified working time for the product. For achieving an especially neat finish, consider using masking tape to cover the face edges of the joint and remove it promptly once the tooling is completed.

LIMITATIONS

  • Unsuitable for glazing applications.
  • Avoid use in joints exceeding a depth of 15mm.
  • Not recommended for bitumen, marble, or natural stone.
  • Inappropriate for constructing aquariums.
  • Refrain from using it with plastics like PP, PE, PTFE, or other materials with low surface energy. Consider HS10 Primer for improved adhesion on non-porous substrates.
