Hodgson Sealants Intufire is a single-component, water-based sealant designed to be fire-resistant and possess acoustic properties. It is utilized to create a strong and flexible seal in joints within a diverse range of fire-rated structures, demanding fire resistance for up to 4 hours. Its unique intumescent characteristics prompt the sealant to expand and form a char when exposed to heat, effectively halting the dissemination of smoke and fire through the joint.

Hodgson Sealants Intufire is ideal for:
- Used to seal joints, voids, and uneven openings necessitating fire resistance for up to 4 hours.
- Excellent for sealing joints, voids, and uneven openings in fire walls, partitions, door architraves, service penetrations, floors, and various structures.
- Designed for perimeter sealing within internal fire-rated screens, partitions, service penetrations, and door or window frames.
- Ensures integrity maintenance while sealing around pipes, services, and cables.
- Effective in sealing fire-rated ductwork.
APPLICATION
Joint Preparation: Before application, refer to the Technical Information Sheet named ‘Guidelines for Joint Design with Cartridge-Based Products.’
Surface Readiness: Ensure all surfaces are thoroughly clean, dry, and devoid of frost, grease, or loose substances. For a precise finish, use masking tape to shield the joint’s face edges; remove it promptly after tooling. Trim the cartridge’s screw thread tip and attach the nozzle. Adjust the nozzle’s diameter to match the joint size, then apply the sealant using a skeleton gun. Inject the sealant into the joints, guaranteeing no gaps or voids, and ensuring full contact between the sealant and both joint surfaces.
Finishing: Tool the sealant immediately after application, staying within the specified working time for the product. Some shrinkage may occur during drying. If a flush finish is desired, it’s advisable to slightly overfill/tool the joint to compensate.
LIMITATIONS
- Inappropriate for use in joints that remain consistently damp or submerged.
- Avoid usage on substrates that release oils or plasticizers.
- Refrain from application in joints where the depth exceeds half the width unless accompanied by an appropriate backing material.
