Mapegrip D1 is a ready mixed adhesive paste for internal wall tiling for most ceramic tiles and mosaics. It has a non-slip quality with high initial grab, and an extended open time. Suitable for domestic kitchens, bathrooms and showers. Not suitable for commercial use.
CHARACTERISTICS
Mapegrip D1 is an adhesive in water dispersion on synthetic resins, selective graded minerals and various additives. Mapegrip D1 is a ready-to-use paste that is easily applied with a trowell, with good high initial grab.
It’s thixotropic properties make it perfect for installing wall tiles without slippage. Once set, Mapegrip D1 has a strong high bond, and is sufficiently deformable for moderate vibration and deformation of building materials.

Application examples
In the installation of ceramic/mosaic tiles on:
• Gypsum plaster/gypsum block walls
• Gypsum backerboard
• Cement-based renders/cured concrete walls
• Tile backer boards
APPLICATION
Mapegrip D1 can be applied on surfaces which are sound, stable and free of dirt. Mapegrip D1 should be applied with a notched trowel. The notch size must transfer at least 65%:
• Mosaic tiles up to 5×5 cm – use MAPEI no. 4 square-notched trowel
• Regular size ceramic tiles – use MAPEI no. 5 notched trowel.
The working is approximately 2mins in normal conditions. Tiles must be set within that time and the adhesive must be spread correctly. If a surface skin forms, it must be reapplied.
Installing the tiles
Press firmly using a twist and slide motion to ensure an even transfer of the adhesive. Any adjustments must be done within 30mins.
Grouting
At normal temperatures, the joints can be grouted after 12 hours of setting. Larger tiles will take longer.
The joints can be grouted with Keracolor Fine Grain or Large Grain, depending on the joint width, or with Ultracolor.
If you require a good resistance to chemical agents, use Kerapoxy, a two-component anti-resisting epoxy grout.
For sealing flexible expansion joints, use Mapesil AC single-component silicone sealant.
LIMITATIONS
• For internal application only
• Not suitable for application in areas where immersion in water will occur (swimming pools, fountains, etc.)
• Tiles or substrates must be absorbent
• Do not use to install natural stone. E.g. Carrara marble
• Do not use on metal surfaces
